Q&A About The Project

What are the key dates for the delegation?

- Seminar in Switzerland: February 12th to 16th, 2024 - Seminar Abroad: Scheduled within the period March 21st to April 7th, 2024, depending on the specific travel plans of each project team. - Closing Event: May 6th, 2024

What are the responsibilities of a delegation member?

Delegation members are expected to actively participate in both seminars, show interest in the culture of the project destination, and complete additional written assignments related to their project team's topic. They are required to participate in all of the activities on site. It is not possible to join the seminars online.

Is there any additional work or exams apart from the two seminars?

Each project team will have similar tasks to complete, such as reflection papers, literature reviews on seminar topics, or group-written articles. There will be no final exam.

Is there a special rule for part-time students regarding mandatory attendance in the seminar in Switzerland?

All students, including part-time students, are required to attend the seminar. There are no special dispensations for part-time students.

What are the costs?

The cost for the program is CHF 2,800.

What is included in the CHF 2,800 cost?

The estimated cost is the maximum but can be reduced based on successful sponsorships and partnerships. This covers accommodation, visa expenses, international flights, domestic travel and transportation, group dinners, and select cultural activities.

Do I need to have my own travel insurance?

Every participant is responsible for having the necessary travel insurance. If you do not have insurance, we must ensure you understand and accept all associated risks.

What happens if I fall ill or face a family emergency just before the overseas seminar, preventing me from travelling? What happens to the fees and credits?

I will talk with the project supervisor about individual solutions since there is no fixed answer. It is essential that the assignment can still be completed to receive the credits.

What is the contingency plan if we are unable to travel?

We are actively exploring alternative travel routes that will be equally engaging, allowing you to gain intercultural knowledge and expand your network.

Can I apply for multiple projects simultaneously?

Yes, you can apply for more than one project at the same time. However, it would be best if you prioritised your choices. Remember that due to the high demand, there's no guarantee that you will be considered for your second or third-choice projects. Please submit your application for your first priority, and we will look over the possibility of transferring your application to other project teams.

What documents are required for the application?

To apply, you must submit your CV in either German or English, a copy of your passport, and a reference from a contact within FHNW (please provide their full name and email). Additionally, you will be required to answer five questions regarding your motivation to join the project, with a maximum response length of one A4 page.

When does the application become binding?

The delegation for the 19th edition of FocusIndia will be announced in mid-November. Once you have signed our agreement (which will be provided later), your application becomes binding. As a result, you will automatically be unenrolled from the Integration Module or the corresponding module of your degree program (which will be compensated).

How will the project be credited within your program (focus, context, etc)?

The project is credited under "Integration Module_ISP Student Delegates" (number 931), which is already applicable to all HSW Bachelor programs (BOEK, IM, WI, BIT, and IBM). For other FHNW delegates, their program heads will determine how their work will be transferred.

How many ECTS credits will I receive?

You can earn up to 5 ECTS credits depending on your degree program and agreements with your program heads.

Do I receive ECTS credits even if I am unable to travel?

You will receive 5 ECTS credits if you submit your work correctly and attend all mandatory events.

Will I receive ECTS credits even if the seminar in Switzerland is not held?

You will receive the 5 ECTS as the seminars will continue. If they cannot occur in person, we will provide some good alternatives.
